Olympic porthole on ebay? or is it???????

Postby John White on Sun Aug 24, 2008 7:08 pm

Did anyone see the alleged RMS Olympic porthole on ebay which just finished making £230?

After chats with Daniel Klistoner, Bruce Bevridge and Mark Chirnside about this porthole all week, it was more or less definate it WAS NOT from Olympic and your right, I never bought it!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0245087630

All Olympic's were made of brass and after several requests from the seller about the diameter of the glass, he remained silent.

The diameter of the glass would have proved the theory that it was likely to be from Homeric as they were broken up at roughly the same time.

So, as we always say, watch what you buy on ebay! it might look real but you never know!
