She made her last voyage in March 1935 to Jarrow, near Newcastle upon Tyne, Thomas Ward had ship dismantling facilities there and after there was only the hull left, she was then towed to Inverkeithing in Fife for final scrapping.

Much of her still remains, apart form our collection, parts of her can still be found in various houses, factorys and hotels throughout the UK.

I would guess most probably...... the windows I have were installed in a perfume factory on the Holy Island, the building was demolished about 10 years ago or so and it came to light the windows were form Olympic's 1st class lounge!

I know where one of Olympic's magnificent chandaliers is and hopefully one day it will come up for sale.

Re a musuem, David and I are working towards having a musuem of some sort somewhere, but it is a while away yet, unless someone has a great idea of producing a lot of money?

Some of Olympic's other interiors were purchased by Ken Marshall and are now in the states. Those items were found in a farm barn and had been there for many many years until discovered in the 1980's.

Obviously, as we know most of Olympic's 1st class lounge is in the Alnwick Hotel in Northumberland, well worth a visit! you can see it by pressing the video tab and then selecting the WHITE SWAN video........

Hi John

Do you mean that you and David are sort of planning of having a ‘Museum of the White Star Line’ (thumbs up), it is a great idea? :D

I have been to the White Swan Hotel and dined in the Olympic Restaurant; you’ll get the feeling of how large the 1st class public spaces once were on the great White Star liner, it was magnificent.

I know that the panelling and windows at the ‘Olympic Restaurant’ were from Olympic’s 1st class lounge, but the ceiling and light fittings were from the 1st class smoking room, if I’m not mistaken?

Although I have seen the footage of Olympic`s final voyage it never fails to break my heart. She was sent to the scrappers far too soon imo, I am just glad that some of her fixtures and fittings have been preserved. Good luck with the museum btw :)
